Branichtunnel, which is a 1.800 m long one-tube road tunnel, is part of the local bypass of the town Schriesheim. It consist of a main tube and two emergency exits: first 1.110 m
and second 110 m long.
Adval´s scope of works is the excavation of the second emergency exit with cross section 20 m2 and the construction of the secondary lining structure in both emergency exits.
The emergency exit is being driven using the New Austrian Tunneling Method. The secondary lining structure consist of steel reinforcement and water-impermeable shotcrete.
As the excavation works on the main tube have still been proceeding, Adval´s staff will start to excavate the emergency exit in very tight conditions.
One of the big challenges on this project will also be the restricted space with surrounding properties and housing very close to the emergency exit.
