"Euro Alliance Tunnels" JSC started the construction of the biggest road tunnel in Serbia – “Manajle”. The facility is a part of E75 Highway and the European Corridor X in the part between Nish and the Macedonian boundary. It consists of two tubes, each of them with length of 1.8 km and a pedestrian passage between them.

Traditionally, the construction started with consecvation of the tunnel, as in its portal was placed an icon of the tunnel workers and minors protector – Saint John of Rila. In parallel with “Manajle”, the Bulgarian consortium is also performing another tunnel part of the highway – “Predejane”, whose two tubes are correspondingly 870 m and 1050 m long.

First in Serbia

The project is first for “Euro Alliance Engineering” group in Serbia, part of which is also “Euro Alliance Tunnels” company (former “Adval”). The construction works include construction of tunnel tubes with total length of almost 6 km. Its budget is over EUR 50 million, as the budget of “Manajle” is EUR 36 million of it. The tunnel is located in the area of Tsarichina Dolina and Vladichin Han, and it practically represents LOT 4 of the Highway. Correspondingly, the other tunnel to be constructed, “Predejane”, is included in its previous part – between Grdelitsa (Gornje pole) and Tsarichina Dolina.

“Euro Alliance Tunnels”, a company specialized in tunnel construction, is a leading partner in “Alliance 10” union and main contractor of the construction works. They are financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), as the Employer is the state company “Koridori Srbije”. The contract with it was signed during the spring this year, the start of the project, however, was postponed until finishing the expropriation works and obtaining the certificates for work of the Bulgarian companies in Serbia.

The projects for the two tunnels include dividing the traffic in each direction in separate tubes. Each of them will include two traffic lanes with total width of 7m plus emergency lane. The deadline for finishing the construction of “Manajle” and “Predejane” tunnels is March 2016.
